The summer holidays have officially arrived! Kids across the country are gleefully waving goodbye to homework and exams (at least for a few weeks), which for many parents signals the start of the holiday season.
As the locals will tell you, our riverside market town of Woodbridge is a fantastic to place to visit during the summer period. From the stunning outdoor attractions of the world-famous Sutton Hoo, to the vast array of independent stores and eateries here in town, there is plenty to see and do in the area, for all the family to enjoy.
Woodbridge’s long association with the water attracts vast numbers of visitors year on year, and is certainly a major feature of the area. Fleets of sailing boats gently pass along the ancient banks of the River Deben in the warmer months, with many beautiful riverside walks to try.
One of our favourites is the AA ‘Down by the River Walk
’, which takes you right alongside the Deben, from the country’s last working tide mill to Kyson Hill and round the bend of Martlesham Creek. A circular walk around Woodbridge and through the town itself completes the circuit, resulting in a lovely mix of riverside paths, town streets and steps. If you try it, let us know how you get on with a picture or two – just tweet @woodbridgecrown
Woodbridge town centre itself offers plenty. Charming architecture and boutique businesses fill the high-streets, with opportunities galore to find a refreshing drink and ice-cream. For more to do in the area, just visit our Woodbridge Experience
page on our site.
For weekend stays, our bedrooms here at The Crown are amongst the finest of hotels in Suffolk. Check out our Napping

Enjoy the sun!
