First year's awards and guides success for the Crown

03 Nov 2010

The Crown at Woodbridge team are celebrating the end of our first full year's trading in style as we have been listed in all the major travel and restaurant guides for 2011 as well as winning a number of prestigious awards.

The Which? Good Food Guide published this week has given us a score of 3 for food quality, the second highest score awarded in Suffolk.
The AA Restaurant Guide has awarded it Two AA Rosettes, only one restaurant has more in the county.
Michelin has listed The Crown at Woodbridge in both their Hotels and Restaurants Guide and their Dining Out in Pubs Guide.
We are also featured in Alastair Sawday’s Hotels and Inns Guide and Alastair Sawday’s Pubs and Inns Guide, also named joint national winner of their ‘Pub with Rooms’ award across England and Wales.

The Crown was also named East Anglia’s Best Small Commercial Building in the LABC 2010 Awards  (given by the local authority building control association for construction design) and also one of the six shortlisted finalists in the ‘Bar in a Restaurant or Hotel’ category of the 2010 UK Restaurant and Bar Design Awards.

Stephen David, Chef-Patron of this boutique townhouse inn which re-opened last summer at the heart of this charming riverside market town, was naturally thrilled about the Crown’s successes:
“Such quick and comprehensive recognition by all of these major guides of what we are doing here at the Crown at Woodbridge was unexpected. It is definitely reward for the extra effort from all our enthusiastic team in working so hard and helping to create something different and special in this part of Suffolk, especially as we are in a competitive high quality marketplace for hotels and restaurants locally and also in the depths of a recession. Winning one of Alastair Sawday’s precious few national awards was a real surprise and has been the icing on the cake, finishing this exciting year in style.”
