The Crown in the media, reviews and awards
The Independent - Saturday 13 August 2011 - UK 50 Best Gastro Pubs list
On Saturday 13 August edition in their nationwide benchmark list of the UK’s 50 Best Gastro Pubs, The Independent newspaper raised "a glass to the best places in Britain to wash down fine food with choice ales, scrumptious ciders
and world-class wines”. Compiled with the help of an authoritative panel from The AA Pub Guide, CAMRA (The Campaign
for Real Ale), Alastair Sawday’s Guide to Pubs and Inns and The Good Pub Guide.
Surprisingly considering the strength and appeal of Suffolk's inns and pubs, The Independent’s list of the great and the good only featured one Suffolk establishment - The Crown at Woodbridge and only four across the whole of East Anglia.
The Independent described The Crown At Woodbridge as “a classy inn with great food, urbane bedrooms
and a cosmopolitan air... A chic East Anglian bolthole - unmissable.” Read the whole feature here
The Times – Saturday 16 October 2010 – Tom Chesshyre's 'Cool Hotel Guide' review:
"The Crown has been transformed... into a chic retreat... captivating as though it might belong in a trendy contemporary art gallery... a stylish setting...Overall, it felt extremely comfortable... superb food in a secret Suffolk hideaway under two hours away from London".
