Introducing our New Autumn Menu

It's an exciting time here at The Crown at Woodbridge. Our talented Chef, Darran Hazelton and his team have been working hard putting together a delicious Autumn Menu.
We've asked Head Chef Darran to pick 5 of his top dishes and his reasons why! So here goes...

Smoked Mackerel Pate £7 - Looks great visually with the colours of cranberries and it’s delicious. Using the locally sourced smoked mackerel from Pinneys in Orford is great, it makes a great starter with the sourdough crisps made from Cake Shop Bakery Bread (award winning bakers in Woodbridge high street).

Pumpkin Risotto £13 - Looks great colours visually, striking oranges very Autumn-y, everybody loves a risotto not just the veggies and as an addition we can add the Suffolk chicken breast for the diners who would want to taste meat.

Local Partridge £18 - I just love the seasonality of this dish being right in game season again all shot locally in Suffolk and surrounding counties, it’s a very classic style with the game chips, and the bread sauce but the ‘brought to the modern times’ cooking the partridge sous vide and then roasting with Armagnac it’s a great dish I would love to eat!

Venison Casserole £20 - It’s a great heart-warming comfort dish, the slow cooked venison shoulder in the red wine is just so soft and tender after cooking for 10 hours at 85.c with the potato gratin and slow braised red cabbage is just a winner and adds that bit of extra special to autumn dining experience at the crown (or I would like to think so!)

Blackberry & Chocolate Parfait £7.5 - It’s the most elegant of our deserts and with the poached spiced blackberries is great flavour and very much in season, it’s a chocolate lover’s dessert very rich but with the blackberry mousse just helps off set the richness, again one of my favourites to indulge in.

Tropical Coconut Rice Pudding £6.5 - Everybody loves a rice pudding and its totally diary and gluten free, but you couldn’t tell with the coconut milk and soya milk and then candied pineapple. It gives it a sweetness, so you still have the guilty feeling as you eat it with the passion fruit sorbet giving you another tartness.

Our restaurant in Woodbridge is open for breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner. So why not treat yourself to some of these new mouthwatering dishes!
