National Walking Month

May is National Walking Month, perfect time to get out and about exploring the local surroundings.
In Suffolk, we are spoilt for choice when it comes to walking routes but when in Woodbridge, we recommend taking a stroll along the River Deben.

This 4-mile round route is perfect for whole family to enjoy and is also part of the Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), providing you with beautiful waterside scenery and countryside views.

Take in the fresh air and enjoy the sights of bobbing sailboats as you wander through this wildlife haven. Birdwatchers – make sure you pack your binoculars as at low tide you can see a glorious variety of wading birds, such as godwits and dunlins.

On your adventure, why not take a closer look at The Tide Mill which beautifully dominates the quay. This iconic Mill has stood there since the 12th century and was England’s last working tide mill before it finally stopped turning in 1957.

When back, stroll around the riverside market town, perfect for visiting and walking all year round. The town is full of rich history with plenty of places to indulge in a spot of shopping.

At the end of your walk, sit back in The Crown where you can put your feet up and relax in our outdoor terrace and enjoy a delicious lunch and coffee.
